Meet the Team – Adelia Mirsaitova – R&D Manager

At Millers Oils, innovation is at the heart of everything we do – and that innovation starts with brilliant people. This week we introduce you to Adelia Mirsaitova, our Research & Development Manager, who brings nearly a decade of expertise, a passion for science, and a love for Georgian cuisine (and her cat, Patrick!) to the Millers Oils team.

Tell us about yourself.

My name is Adelia Mirsaitova, and I am 32 years old. Currently I live in Brighouse, a quiet and charming place. My family and I recently moved here: my husband, Alex, and our adorable cat, Patrick. I love travelling whenever I get the chance. Last year, I travelled extensively across the UK.

Tell us about your role at Millers Oils.

I have been working as a Research and Development Manager at Millers Oils for 9 months. My role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, with many non-trivial tasks and challenges. The most inspiring part of my job is conducting scientific experiments, such as our recent research on the impact of friction modifiers on the properties of some of our products.

What is the best part of your job?

One of the aspects of my work that I love most is achieving formulations with outstanding characteristics and then seeing the satisfaction on our customers’ faces when they use our products. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our work makes a difference.

How long have you worked in the lubricants industry?

I have been working in the lubricants industry for nearly 10 years, and I studied the same field at university. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of companies, including well-established businesses and start-ups. My background is diverse, and I’ve held roles such as Chief Engineer, Head of R&D, and Lab Manager. Most of my work has focused on the automotive segment, which I find both fascinating and challenging.

What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?

As I mentioned earlier, I am passionate about travelling. I also enjoy practicing yoga, snowboarding, and spending time with my cat, Patrick. Recently, I joined a local book club where we meet to discuss our impressions of various authors and books. It’s been a wonderful way to engage with new ideas and connect with others.

What is your go-to lunch in the office?

When it comes to food, I prefer home-cooked meals for lunch. My husband and I love experimenting with dishes from different cultures. We’re both learning how to cook a variety of cuisines, and I hope that one day we’ll become experts in Georgian cuisine.

In the mornings, we always have tea, which is an important part of the local culture. I bring sweets to accompany it, as it’s a tradition from my own culture, and I enjoy sharing these treats with my colleagues at Millers Oils. In return, the lab team introduced me to their tradition of a Friday sandwich party, and I’m happy to be part of it.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I recently moved to a larger home, which gave me the opportunity to return to my music studies. I’ve been learning to play the piano again, which has been a fulfilling and relaxing activity outside of work.

What has been the highlight of your time at Millers Oils so far?

I’m very glad to be part of the Millers Oils team. I truly appreciate the helpful and friendly atmosphere within our collective. Over the past few months, I’ve been involved in numerous research projects, and I’ve had the chance to understand more about the company’s structure and culture. I’m excited to continue exploring the depths of scientific research to achieve excellent results and contribute to the ongoing success of the company.
