Millers Oils is celebrating a remarkable year with brand ambassador Harry Hickton, whose journey from rebuilding a heavily damaged race car to securing a maiden win in the MINI CHALLENGE JCW and finishing the 2026 season with a podium in the final round has demonstrated the resilience, determination and fighting spirit that define motorsport.
The 20-year-old racer faced an uncertain future at the end of the 2025 season after a high-speed accident at Brands Hatch left his car written off. Having already established himself as a front-runner in the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy before stepping up to the JCW class, Hickton was left wondering whether he would be able to return to the grid.
Determined not to let the setback define his career, Hickton spent the winter working tirelessly to rebuild the car, documenting the process through his YouTube series, Road to Rebuild. With the backing of his family and sponsors, he was able to return to competition for a second season in the highly competitive JCW class.
Millers Oils played an important role in Hickton’s journey, naming him the winner of its 2026 Challenger Scheme and official brand ambassador for the season. The programme was designed to support emerging talent both on and off the track, recognising not only driving ability but also technical understanding, professionalism and the ability to represent the brand.
The racing itself proved to be every bit as unpredictable as the rebuild. Returning for a second season in the highly competitive MINI CHALLENGE JCW class, Hickton showed strong pace from the outset. He qualified fourth at Donington Park for the season opener, demonstrating the potential of the rebuilt car, before securing an impressive second-place finish at Brands Hatch in May.
However, converting that pace into consistent results proved challenging. Mechanical issues and other setbacks at Snetterton and Oulton Park interrupted his progress, preventing him from achieving the results he felt the car was capable of. Despite these frustrations, Hickton continued to push forward, with the breakthrough arriving at Knockhill in August. There, he claimed his maiden JCW class pole position before going on to secure his first race win in the category, rounding off a memorable weekend with a third-place finish in the final race.
His momentum was tested again at Silverstone, where he showed impressive pace but was excluded from qualifying following a regulatory infringement. Undeterred, Hickton headed to the Brands Hatch season finale determined to make the most of his final opportunity to secure a strong result.
The closing weekend delivered a fitting end to the campaign. Hickton fought his way through the field in the opening race, survived a dramatic incident in the second, and produced another determined charge in the final contest. His efforts earned him third place, giving him a podium finish to close out a season that had tested him both on and off the track.
From rebuilding a heavily damaged car over the winter to claiming his first JCW pole position and victory, Hickton’s 2026 campaign showed his determination and the progress he has made as a driver. While setbacks prevented him from mounting the title challenge he had hoped for, his pace, breakthrough results and strong finish provided plenty of positives to carry into 2027.
“What a way to end the season. Like we have done all year, we were up against it, but to be walking away with a trophy is a nice reward. I gave everything I had in that last race and even when I dropped to sixth, I refused to accept that was how we were going to go out.
“If I’m to reflect on the season as a whole, it’s certainly been a rollercoaster. After the crash at the end of last year, I didn’t know if we’d be back, but thanks to the incredible support from my sponsors and family, we pulled it off.
“We’ve been one of the fastest packages throughout the year, but like last season, bad luck really scuppered our chances of not only big results, but probably also mounting a serious challenge for the overall title.
“That being said, to claim my first JCW pole position and win, as well as some more podiums, was mega.”
For Millers Oils, Hickton’s journey reflects the values at the heart of the Challenger Scheme: ambition, perseverance and continuous development. From supporting his return to the grid to working with him throughout the season, the partnership has extended beyond race results, helping to build a strong relationship with shared enthusiasm for motorsport and technical performance.
With the 2026 season now complete, Hickton is already working towards securing a competitive programme for 2027, taking the experience gained from a challenging but rewarding year into the next stage of his racing career.
