A vehicle breakdown rarely happens at a convenient time. For commercial fleets, an unexpected failure can mean vehicle downtime, missed deliveries, expensive repairs and disruption to your business.
But what if your engine oil could give you an early warning?
Oil analysis is a simple way to monitor the condition of both the lubricant and the engine. A small sample of used engine oil is taken from the vehicle and analysed for signs of wear, contamination and oil degradation. The results provide valuable insight into what’s happening inside the engine, potentially identifying developing issues before they become a costly failure or unexpected breakdown.
The process is very straightforward (we do the hard work for you).
1. Take a sample
A 100ml sample of used engine oil is collected from the vehicle during routine maintenance.
2. Analyse the oil
The sample is analysed by our on-site laboratory for indicators such as wear metals, contamination, fuel dilution and changes in the condition of the oil.
3. Identify potential issues
Our team reviews the results and provides a comprehensive report, highlighting anything that may require attention or further investigation. Don’t understand the results? No problem. Our technical team is on hand to talk you through the report and explain what the results mean for your vehicle.
4. Take action
The report gives you the information you need to make more informed maintenance decisions, from investigating a potential fault to reviewing oil change requirements. And if you’re unsure what to do next, our team can help recommend the appropriate course of action.
Your oil can provide a snapshot of what’s happening inside the engine. Analysis can help identify:
Oil analysis means you don’t have to wait for something to go wrong before taking action. It provides an early insight into what’s happening inside the engine, helping identify potential issues before they develop into costly repairs or unplanned downtime. For fleet operators, that means better information, more proactive maintenance and greater confidence in keeping vehicles on the road.
Oil analysis is just one benefit of being Protected by Millers Oils. Our comprehensive support package, helping commercial vehicle operators manage lubrication more effectively.
Alongside advanced oil analysis, Protected by Millers Oils combines lubricant selection and recommendations, oil inventory management, technical support and dedicated account management. This gives fleet operators access to the expertise and information they need to make better lubrication and maintenance decisions.
Oil analysis can’t guarantee that a vehicle won’t break down, but it can provide valuable early insight into potential problems, helping you move from reactive repairs to a more proactive approach to fleet maintenance.
