2022 Ginetta Race Report: Snetterton

James Kellett continued his fantastic winning record in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup this past weekend (13/14 August) as he secured a pair of victories in the summer heatwave at Snetterton.

As temperatures sat above 30 degrees Celsius across the weekend, Kellett put in a scorching performance on track as he recorded a pair of lights-to-flag victories, moving his tally up to nine wins for the year and further extending his championship lead.

Tom Emson took advantage of the reverse grid for the final race to secure his first win of the season, to add to his maiden GT4 SuperCup victory in the 2021 season finale. Prior to that he had finished third in the first two races, with Aston Millar having picked up a couple of second places.

Darren Leung enjoyed a weekend to remember in Norfolk, recording a brilliant hat-trick of G56 Am wins and finishing as high as third overall in the final race. Wes Pearce and Colin White joined him on the class podium in all three races.

The Ginetta G55 classes produced some of the most exciting racing of the weekend meanwhile. James Taylor, Josh Poulain and Blake Angliss tasted the winners champagne in G55 Pro, while James Townsend, Daniel Morris and Ian Duggan shared the spoils in G55 Am.

The teenage talents of the Ginetta Junior Championship produced three more exhilarating races over the weekend. Rookie talents Kanato Le and Will Macintyre won on Saturday, while championship leader Josh Rowledge took the top spot in Sunday’s live televised race.

Rowledge’s fifth win of the season maintains his comfortable advantage at the top of the standings, though rookie leader Macintyre did close the gap slightly with a pair of top three finishes. Fellow title contender Harri Reynolds kept his title hopes alive too with a double podium of his own.

A competitive weekend of racing saw Liam McNeilly also secure himself a pair of podium finishes, meaning he now has four in the last five races, while Sonny Smith also picked up silverware.
