Meet the Team – Technical Support

Graphic of 2 men, 1 wearing a Millers Oils polo shirt and one with the stig helmet on and Millers Oils branded karting overalls.

Meet our Product Advisors Adam and Mitchell, who work in the Technical Support Team. They provide insights into their roles and what the topic of conversation is in the technical office.

Tell me about yourself

Adam: Originally from Southend, I relocated to Yorkshire 4 years ago with my girlfriend Jen in pursuit of more affordable property. We now live in Brighouse with our 2 dogs. As an Arsenal fan, I love to watch football – especially in the pub, but really my main passion is cars, I love to look at cars, buy cars and restore cars.

Mitchell: I have always worked in manual jobs, so starting at Millers Oils in the office was a change for me. I am not only an avid Man United fan, enjoying watching football, but I also love to go karting (when the weather permits). My favourite track is Rowrah in Cumbria. There’s nothing better than spending a sunny weekend up there with friends.

What are your roles?

Adam: I am a Product Advisor, and have been working at Millers Oils since October. I remember seeing the job advert and thinking my knowledge of classic cars might finally benefit me financially.

Mitchell: I am also a Product Advisor, and have been in this role for almost 9 months. Karting is what led me to this role, having previous knowledge of the products through me and my friends using Millers Oils in our karts.

Tell me about the technical support team and what you do

We answer calls and reply to email enquiries from people who need help selecting the correct lubricants. Using industry databases and application experience, we are well equipped to offer product recommendations. This is usually vehicles, whether that be passenger car or commercial, but we also help businesses to ensure that they are using the correct lubrication for their machinery.

We’re looking forward to the rest of 2024 to expand on our industrial knowledge. Attending more site visits with our industrial and fluid management teams, to better understand customer challenges by seeing them first hand.

When you’re not talking about technical enquiries, what is the typical topic of conversation in the office?

Adam: Mitch not eating enough fruit and vegetables is a common topic, or houses! Mitch is in the process of buying a house so that’s all he’s been talking about.

Mitchell: It’s good to work with someone with common interests. We both like to talk about football and as car enthusiasts (Adam especially) we often speak about cars we’ve seen.

What is your dream car?

Adam: A Citroen DS Pallas – They are just a design classic, ahead of their time!

Mitchell: My mind changes all the time, but my current dream car is a Porsche 911 992 GT3 RS.

What does a typical day look like for the technical support team?

Starting our day at 8.30am, we get to the office and start responding to a busy email inbox whilst taking customer calls. You never really know what someone will ask. If the answer isn’t straightforward we can make use of our on-site laboratory, speaking to Lab Manager, Mike or the Head of R&D, Stephen, who will always offer their professional opinion on complex enquiries.

For any technical enquiries, email: technical@millersoils.co.uk.
