Meet the Team – Lore Langley – HR Manager

This week we caught up with Lore Langley, our HR Manager who has worked at Millers Oils for the past 2 years. She told us about her life before working in HR and shared one piece of advice she thinks that everyone should know.

Tell us about yourself.

I was born in Huddersfield and moved out to Sicily with my parents when I was 4 years old, so a big chunk of my childhood was spent playing out in the sun or at the beach in the summer months.  The travelling bug never really left me and I went on to live in Spain and then Melbourne, Australia for 4 years in my late 20’s. Travelling, being out on a walk with my family and our dog Digby or at a gig watching my favourite bands are my happy places.

I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up and as a result I have had quite a colourful career ranging from sales and fashion right through to being an air hostess!  I have always enjoyed working with people and after years of working in management roles I transitioned into HR which I love.

What is your role at Millers Oils?

I’m the standalone HR Manager which definitely keeps me busy.  No day is ever the same and I really enjoy the variety of my role. Supporting people, working on projects and implementing changes to improve our employee experience is really rewarding.

If you weren’t in this job, what do you think you would be doing?

I’d probably be working with a mental health charity as it’s something I’m really passionate about, I’d also really love to work with animals, I have a huge soft spot for cows.

What is one piece of advice you think everyone should know?

Dreams don’t work unless you do. I read it somewhere once and it has always stayed with me, I think it’s a really good reminder that dreams can become a reality if you work for them.

What is your favourite thing about working at Millers Oils?

Without a doubt, the people! There is a tremendous amount of knowledge, care and passion across the business, and we are quite a close knit team. As HR Manager, the consistent feedback I get from new starters is how helpful and welcoming everyone is when they join and it’s something we should all be really proud of.

What is something you enjoy doing after work?

When I’m not working, my 4 year old little girl likes to keep me busy, drawing, painting, baking or finding the biggest and muddiest puddle to jump in! She’s growing up so fast that I’m soaking up every moment and taking advantage before she decides hanging out with mum isn’t cool anymore!
