Ginetta make their second visit of the season to the fastest circuit in the UK this weekend, with the second half of the 2021 Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and Ginetta Junior Championship season starting at Thruxton in Hampshire (28/29 August).
The GT4 SuperCup stars are set to reach speeds in excess of 140mph as they tackle three races around the fearsome 2.36 mile circuit. Tom Hibbert heads there as the championship leader, having impressively finished on the podium in 10 of the 11 races so far.
Adam Smalley is his closest challenger in the points, having scored a double victory last time out at Knockhill to make it five wins for the season – one more than Hibbert. Both drivers have previously won at Thruxton in Ginetta competition too.
Josh Rattican and Carlito Miracco are ones to watch this weekend, having taken maiden race wins this year at Snetterton and Brands Hatch respectively, while Tom Emson is another regular front-runner with four podium finishes to his name.
James Blake-Baldwin and Steve Roberts have also enjoyed visits to the rostrum this season, while Joe Marshall and Reece Somerfield have been in the mix for top three finishes. Blake Angliss will be aiming to build on a seasons’ best qualifying result at Knockhill.
Colin White is on a march towards a second consecutive Pro Am class title, with a hat-trick of wins at Knockhill making it 10 victories for the season to date. Carl Garnett leads the chasing pack aiming to halt his momentum, having been a consistent podium finisher as well.
There’s a new name atop the Ginetta Junior Championship standings heading to Thruxton, with Aston Millar the new driver to beat. He won his first two Junior races at Knockhill to move above Liam McNeilly, who also scored a victory himself to make it three for the season.
Callum Voisin tasted success in Scotland too for his sixth race win of his debut campaign, and he leads the rookie class standings. Seb Hopkins is another to head south to Thruxton with momentum behind him, with a Knockhill podium treble making it eight for the year.
