Ginetta Preview: Oulton Park

Following a five week summer break, Ginetta racing makes a welcome return this weekend as the 2021 season continues with the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and Ginetta Junior Championship competing at Oulton Park in Cheshire on Sat 31st July & Sun 1st August 2021.

This weekend promises to be a special one for the whole British Touring Car Championship package, as full crowds return trackside for the first time in more than 20 months. The Ginetta paddock is therefore ready to put on a show with five races across the weekend.

Adam Smalley heads to Cheshire as the GT4 SuperCup championship leader, having scored two wins in the opening rounds at Snetterton and a further success at Brands Hatch last time out. Tom Hibbert is only five points adrift though, having taken a win of his own in the last race.

There have been two other race-winners so far this season, with Josh Rattican and Carlito Miracco both taking their maiden GT4 SuperCup victories. A talented 2021 entry also includes podium-finishers Tom Emson, James Blake-Baldwin and Steve Roberts.

In the championship’s Pro Am class, reigning champion Colin White has started the season in style with five victories in the opening six races. Carl Garnett is his closest challenger, having finished every race in second place so far, with Dan Morris and Stewart Lines also ones to watch.

The championship battle is heating up in the Ginetta Juniors meanwhile, with only three points separating the top four drivers in the standings. The current leader is Seb Hopkins, who has impressively finished in the top three in five of the eight races so far.

One point behind him is Tom Edgar, who scored a win in each of the opening two events at Thruxton and Snetterton. Liam McNeilly, a race-winner at Snetterton also, and Will Jenkins are both three points behind Hopkins meanwhile.

Callum Voisin has been a standout talent with a hat-trick of wins at Brands Hatch making it five victories for the season so far. Callum is the leading rookie talent on the grid, with Ginetta Junior Scholarship winner Robert de Haan and Josh Rowledge also being first year contenders to impress.
