The latest chapter of the 2021 Ginetta race season takes place this weekend, with the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 SuperCup and Millers Oils Ginetta Junior Championship heading to Brands Hatch for what promises to be an action-packed two days of racing (26/27 June).
Two weeks on from a thrilling season opener at Snetterton in Norfolk, the Millers Oils GT4 SuperCup heads to Kent for another three races alongside the British Touring Car Championship. The series promises great action across a 19 car grid, with a two class format for Pro and Pro Am ranked drivers.
Adam Smalley was the star of the show at Snetterton as he converted pole position into the first two wins of the season, a tally he will be aiming to add to on a circuit he won at last year. The other race victory went to the impressive Josh Rattican on his championship debut.
The leader heading into the weekend is Tom Hibbert following a podium treble at Snetterton. He’s got a competitive field aiming to dethrone him, with Tom Emson, Carlito Miracco, James Blake-Baldwin and Joe Marshall amongst the group battling to the front.
It’s a similar story in Pro Am, with three Snetterton podiums putting Carl Garnett on top of the standings ahead of double race-winner and 2020 champion Colin White. This class also features the trio of Stewart Lines, Luke Warr and Garry Townsend.
The Juniors have contested two events so far this season; Thruxton and Snetterton. The driver to beat after the opening five races is Tom Edgar, who scored a win at each meeting plus a second place finish to secure the early championship lead.
His closest challengers in the points standings are Will Jenkins and Liam McNeilly, who each scored their first podiums in the series with hat-tricks at Snetterton. Other standout performances have come from two-time race-winner Callum Voisin and double podium finisher Seb Hopkins.
Two drivers to watch this weekend will be Ginetta Junior Scholarship winners Robert de Haan and Maurice Henry.
