Millers Quality Process

Producing quality products relies on quality raw materials, consistent production processes and accurate testing of the blended oil.
Modern lubricants, regardless of the market they are used in, can often carry original equipment manufacturers approvals or be said to meet the requirements of these manufacturers.

Example of testing - XF Longlife C3 5w30

Producing quality products relies on quality raw materials, consistently accurate production processes and testing of the blended oil.
Modern lubricants, regardless of the market they are used in, can often carry original equipment manufacturers approvals or be said to meet the requirements of these manufacturers.
Our lab plays a part in the whole manufacturing process. XF Longlife C3 5w30 requires ACEA base oil, this is bought in from reputable suppliers and forms the backbone of the finished product.
Several checks are carried out to ensure that the formulation is correct. A basic but important test is the Specific Gravity, this confirms that the correct proportions of raw materials has been used.

The viscosity at 100°C is checked to ensure that the oil meets the criteria of a w30 oil, as set out in international standards. This is done using accurate measurement of flow rate of the oil in temperature controlled equipment.

Additives are used in all modern oils and are vital to give the required service life, fuel economy and overall performance of the oil. Checking the quantity of trace elements found in the additives is done using an XRF machine.

All our test equipment is regularly recalibrated, against industry standards.
After testing has shown all the key parameters to be within specification, the blended oil is "released" to the production department to be filled into a variety of package sizes, from 1 to 1000 litres, depending on the grade.
Traceability of when each product was blended, and with which raw materials, is achieved through batch numbering. Samples of all blends are kept for 12 months, in case re-analysis is needed.
